Presidential Election 2008

For every presidential election in my lifetime that I can remember, I have never been a big fan of any candidate.  Usually when I vote, it's for the lesser of two evils.  This time, however, I am really excited for what the future holds.  I actually like BOTH candidates very much.  The choice I make in voting will be difficult for very different reasons this time around.

I started to like McCain around 8 years ago when I started to follow politics a little more, and I discovered that McCain was always on my side with important issues concerning me, and I noticed that he always fought to do what's right, even if that occasionally goes against his party.  In 2004 I was disappointed that he dropped out of the race, and I promised myself that I'd vote for him if he ever ran again.  I thought for certain I'd be voting for John McCain this time around.

Then I started listening to a few debates and some of Obama's speeches.  I can't deny that the guy makes a lot of sense, and is very convincing.  I know he is very young as presidential candidates go, but that may just be more of a positive than a negative.  His qualifications aside, I think it would be a great cultural advancement for this country to have a black president.

The bottom line is that I have not made up my mind 100% on who I'll be voting for yet, and that I'm extremely pleased that I think I will be happy with either candidate in office.  I can tell that both have a great passion for this country and want to do the right thing.

Perhaps I'll make my decision based on which running mate I like better once they are chosen...
